'Sikat Subar' was officially selected by the WOW Wales One World Film Festival 2024 – the UK's longest-running world cinema festival. This recognition is a tremendous honor for us.
However, after careful consideration, I've decided not to include 'Sikat Subar' in the festival's program. The festival proposed an online screening with geo-restriction to the UK. While this offers fantastic visibility, we're committed to having the film's world premiere in a cinema setting. We believe that 'Sikat Subar' should first be experienced together in a theater, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the story we've dedicated our hearts to.
"The film is an eye-opening piece of work, hard to watch sometimes for people of the 'with us, not for us' perception of animals (the cockfighting scenes practically), but still, it being a broader look into Timor-Leste's culture, makes the film a unique one in its topic of exploration. I bet no matter how much one loves world cinema, they know little to nothing of the place ."
